Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Nestled in the steep ridges and valleys of southwestern Uganda, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the source of five major rivers flowing into Lake Edward. This UNESCO World Heritage site boasts mist-covered hillsides blanketed by one of Uganda's oldest and most diverse rainforests, dating back over 25,000 years and home to nearly 400 plant species. Most notably, Bwindi is a sanctuary for around 459 mountain gorillas, roughly half the world's population, including several groups that visitors can track.
